Drive-thru Flu Clinic scheduled

GOSHEN, Ind. - Once again, Flu season is upon us and to help the community get vaccinated, Goshen Health System's Healthy Generations and Care At Home Services have scheduled several adult flu clinics across the county, including a drive-thru flu clinic for later this month.

"We're looking at the start of the flu season, which is typically November through April," said Alane Metzler, RN, BSN, and Wellness Program Coordinator for Healthy Generations. "A flu shot lasts for about 6 months, so offering flu shots to the community now will help cut down on the spread of influenza throughout the entire flu season. We want to keep people healthy this winter, not having to deal with a potential flu illness."

The drive-thru flu clinic offered by Healthy Generations and Care At Home Services will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the High Park parking lot, next to the Healthy Generations Building, 200 High Park Ave. The cost is $20 for the flu shot for those 18 and older.

"This is a quick and convenient way for the community to get their flu shots," Metzler said. "They simply have to roll down their windows and roll up their sleeves."

In addition to the drive-through clinic, Care At Home Services will offer several flu clinics in the coming weeks.

Clinic times and locations are as follows:

Oct. 16: Waterford Crossing, 1 - 3 p.m.
Oct. 21: Greencroft Evergreen, 8 - 9 a.m.
Oct. 23: Middlebury Greencroft Center, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. (open to the public)
Oct. 24: Millers Merry Manor, Wakarusa, 9 - 11 a.m.
Oct. 31: Senior Expo at Greencroft Senior Center, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (open to the public)

Clinics offered by Goshen Health System's Care at Home Services are for those 18 and older. The cost is $30 for flu shots. The Pneumonia vaccine will also be available for $40 at these clinics.

For both the drive through clinic and Care At Home Services-sponsored clinics, if patrons present their Medicare card, Medicare will be billed for the administering of the vaccine.
